First Steps

This guide is intended to help those who have recently made a decision to follow Jesus. Of course, there are several different ways to take some initial "first steps", but these are our suggestions to help you get off to a strong start.

  1. Tell Someone – Like any new commitment we make, telling someone always helps us stay on track. So, if you came to one of our gatherings with someone (or someone invited you) let them know about your decision. I’m sure they would be happy to celebrate your decision. Other good people to tell may be your spouse, a family member or friend who you know is a Christian. The Connect Groups Pastor of your region is another good person to tell.

  2. Get a Bible (and read it) – The Bible we recommend is the “New Believer’s Bible” because it is easy to read and has a section in the front that helps you to learn some basic truths and where to find them in the Bible. These are available anywhere books are sold, and might look similar to what is pictured here. Translations that are typically the easiest to understand include the The Message, The New Living Translation, The New International Version.

  3. Get Connected – God intended for each of us to live out our faith in community with one-another. Here at Northeast we offer Connect Groups as a way to facilitate this connection.

  4. Get Baptized – Baptism is a public expression of your commitment. Jesus was baptized and instructed all of his followers to get baptized too. We do baptisms about once a quarter at Northeast. To sign-up, click here.
