Missions

Northeast’s approach to missions is intentional and strategic. Our mission strategy has three components: service to our global community, service to the larger Indianapolis community, and service to our local Fishers community. Our priority in serving our global and larger Indianapolis communities is to partner with local churches and ministry leaders who live and serve every day in these areas.

Our local ministry partners in Chongwe, Zambia are Derrick and Mercy Banda. Derrick and Mercy are active members of the Pentecostal Holiness Church – Chongwe and employees of Horizon International, a nonprofit Christian relief and development organization dedicated to caring for orphans affected by HIV/AIDS. Northeast currently supports Derrick and Mercy in the following ways.

Child Sponsorship – Northeast families currently sponsor 50 children in Chongwe. Sponsorship provides food, school fees, money for medical care, and on-going support for the children and their caregivers. Sponsorship is $35.00/month and is administered through Horizon International.

Chongwe Gift Catalog – Through our on-line Chongwe gift catalog, individuals can provide sports equipment, teaching aids, school supplies and other resources to support Derrick and Mercy as they teach and care for the orphans in their community.

Northeast Leader: Jennifer Atkinson

Personal Support – Northeast provides monthly financial support to partially fund the salaries of Derrick and Mercy. The Bandas are a dynamic young couple who are dedicating their lives to serving the children of Chongwe.

Our Indianapolis Community
Meeting the Needs of the Homeless on the Near Eastside

Northeast Leader: Kelly Bontrager

Our local ministry partners on the near eastside of Indianapolis are Reggie and Janet Mallet, pastors of New Wineskin Ministries-East (NW-E), a church serving a primarily homeless population. Reggie, a business owner, and Janet, an attorney, are dedicating their lives and personal resources to helping the homeless overcome addictions, find employment, and build new lives. Northeast supports New Wineskin Ministries-East in the following ways.

Sponsoring and Serving Meals – Each Sunday almost 200 hot meals are provided to those who attend the NW-E services. Northeast families provide financial support, attend services, and help in whatever way needed each week.

Item Collection – On a regular basis, Northeast families donate items that are helpful to NW-E in their ministry efforts. Items include Bibles, Walmart gift cards, infant care items, clothing and other necessities that Reggie and Janet may request.

Northeast Leaders: Jenny Harville and Courtney Koch

Bagel Patrol – Each Sunday morning, Northeast members deliver bagels and other breakfast items to NW-E so that individuals attending their services have something to eat before the hot meal is served. Most of those attending are homeless and are transported to the church by NW-E busses and they arrive without having eaten that day. The breakfast items are collected the previous day from local retailers who donate unsold items.

Northeast Leaders: Tim and Kristy Day

Our Local Community
Leveraging Partnerships to Serve Fishers

Northeast is in the process of identifying those needs in the Fishers community that we are most equipped to address. Initial steps have been taken to identify needs and potential partners in the government, education, social service, and church sectors. New initiatives in this area will be announced soon.
