History of NECC
In June 1999 Fred Bays and his wife Dyan stepped out to start a church for people who didn’t go to church on the Northeast side of Indy. A core group of 15 people started meeting in homes to prepare to launch Northeast. In October 1999 Northeast launched our first worship gathering at Hamilton Southeastern High School. The first year was full of excitement and challenge as we worked to establish ourselves in the community and communicate that there was now a church for people who had given up on church in the past, or who had never been to church before.
We held our weekend gatherings at the high school and then at a transitional facility until February 2004, when we began leasing the west 1/2 of the building we currently meet in. The next year and a half saw great momentum and growth. We doubled in attendance.
As wonderful as the growth and momentum was, we needed to continue to look to the future so that we could continue to be a presence for good in our community. In October of 2005 we expanded our facility by leasing the entire building we currently occupy. That fall CrossLink Community Church joined Northeast to have a stronger ministry impact on the area.
Since then God has been doing great things at Northeast. Over 50% of Northeast attenders were not involved with church prior to coming.
The vision for Northeast is to have a church that reaches out to people who do not go to church but are seeking to find out more about a relationship with their creator.
